Bard Pictures
Here are some pictures of the Bard trip. And, by "some pictures," I mean three.
This is a picture of Manon Hutton-DeWys in rehearsal performing the Joan Tower Piano Concerto.
These were all taken from my cell phone because I forgot to bring my camera with me. Also, I really don't know how to take pictures when people are rehearsing your music.
I also didn't take pictures after the concert because everything was going on so quickly. By the way, the Bard Orchestra performed a great concert. If you weren't there, you seriously missed out. Their programming was fantastic and they worked really hard. And, yes, the performance of my piece went well. I will have recordings and video posted as soon as I get them.
Also, I met Joan Tower. That pretty much made my weekend. She was very personable, and she invited me to sit next to her during the concert AND she invited me to have lunch with her the next day AND she let me hang out at her house while I was waiting for my flight. WOW. Anyway, she convinced me (indirectly) that I need to critically think about the new music I'm hearing at concerts (she has her students write a report for a couple of new music concerts they attend) and also that I need to perform more. Maybe I should take piano lessons again. Or, maybe I should work on conducing. It doesn't hurt to have your own new music ensemble perform your works.
